Sorry for a late reply, strange enough I've been a bit busy.
I would agree, that it isn't the matter of a different character of the disease per se, in the younger patients, which I also agree to be the ones below 60 (this has a tendency to shift its meaning, when the doctor himself is 52, like me...or what?) Maybe the big difference should be ascribed to the differing life expectancy. Of course any patient below 55 at diagnosis regardless of what Mr Gleason tells us, would be referred for RRP by me, unless there is clear evidence of massive metastasizing disease. In connection to this, it might be wise to give our decision-making a second thought, though. Wouldn't most of us be more prone to more radical and aggressive therapy in a younger patient?
It seems I have a good chance of getting support for having a certain number of you staying behind after the Congress 2-5 December to join us for the two day course.
I hope to be able to give exact information on this shortly.
