Most intersex are more successfully brought up as girlsand if this was diagnosed much earlier, I would had gone along that route, ie, early clitoroplasty and vaginoplasty later. However, this "guy" came to me with a man's name, about to marry a girl, and very unhappy with the fact that he cannot pee standing and had a uterus. Both the endocrinologist and psychiatrist agree that the correct thing to do here is not to re-assign him.
I had just done his 2nd stage urethroplasty and TAHBSO. As he had been advised steroid
replacement, this may cause more mentrual bleed, hence TAHBSO. He will also need androgen
replacement therapy. I had however left most of his vagina behind as I was concerned that
aggressive colpectomy may render him impotent. Yes, he is potent!
