You may have well guessed the answer since I do not like poking around. I have
laparoscoped adults with this problem before and I always consider it an academic exercise
and gave it up. It is the very occasional patient who do not have a testis. My present
attitude is my past one! - I do an inguinal exploration, prepared to look intraperitonealy
via the same incision if necessary. The advantage of this is identifying the vas and
removing the fibrotic infarcted testis (if it was antenatal torsion). In my mind,
laparoscopy is more invasive and potentially more dangerous than a skin crease groin
incision.
Anyone wants to volunteer an answer to this question - does the presence of the artery or
vein of an organ or both determines if the organ has ever developed before, or is it
completely irrelevant.
