It is true that generally tubes were not left in the ureters like present day JJ stents
when we sometimes take things for granted. But indeed nephrostomy stents into the ureters
have previously been left in for 2 - 3 weeks with no problem of encrustation. I have done
a few Davis ureteroplasty before the days of JJ-stents and used to anchor the feeding tube
and leave them in for 6 weeks with no problems. Well certainly 2-3 weeks have been OK.
