I would like your comments on the following.
A three and half year old boy was brought by his parents to see me today. The boy was born
in Virginia USA, of Malaysian Chinese parents owning a restaurant there. (By the way, just
for irrelevant information, Virginia has a 20,000 Chinese population but no Chinatown). He
was noted to have an absent left testis at birth and was advised to wait till the child
was about 3 years old before further investigations. The father brought along CT abdomen,
MRI abdomen and Ultrasound scans of his child's scrotum/testis; all done after the child
turned 3. Conclusion - not able to demonstrate the left testis! The father is now advised
by the doctor there to wait till the child is 11 - 12 years old befor subjecting him to
laparoscopy.
I am stomped/aghasted!!!!
